The “Mexican Mafia” (MM), or “La eMe” (eMe) is a Mexican American prison criminal gangs in the United States.
The EME was in the late 1950’s in the California Department of Corrections. It was originally a street gang in urban Los Angeles.
During this time, White inmates enjoyed control over most trusted positions, which many of them luxury prison spending. But more importantly, the Whites controlled the prison underworld. The Mexican American occupants wanted more freedom and more importantly, the control of the prison drug trade.
