Blazing the big screen in just over two weeks on June 27th, “Wanted”, starring Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman, is pulling out all the stops. I’m talking trailers, featurettes, viral sites… you name it. Universal is looking to make this comic-to-film a hit in the making.

Wanted Still 1

Last month, Universal started the viral site www.fraternityofweavers.com on which you can enter a 6 word password (each word on a separate line: every life hangs by a thread) that will gain you access to the Fraternity of Weavers’ bible. The site also has other information tidbits about the Fraternity that’s pretty interesting and just adds to the overall experience.

Several TV spots have naturally aired as well as the full trailer, and those and more can be found here along with a description of the plot of the film.

Wanted Still 2

Most recently, available on the movie’s dedicated site, www.wantedmovie.com, there is now a restricted trailer, which shows a lot more violence and sexual content than is shown in the regular trailers. Age verification is required unless you find it on YouTube.

Wanted Still 4

There’s also a featurette on the main site that shows how the property was translated from the risque comic to the action thriller about to debut. The video features commentary by the stars, as well as the creator of the comic, one of Marvel Comics current top writers, Mark Millar.

Add to that the MySpace and Facebook accounts, the Superbowl spots and all the other promotional ploys and you have a pretty impressive campaign for the upcoming feature film.

Wanted Still 3

While a bit different than the comic, the film is still highly anticipated and should prove to be at least a decent action flick.
